Our clients often ask us to carry out Chinese-English translations for use in Visa applications. The application for a UK Visa can be a difficult process, but at TransAction we make sure that getting all your necessary paperwork translated is a stress-free procedure.

For a Visa application a certified translation is required. As TransAction is a member of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC), our certified translations are accepted by all official UK bodies, such as the Home Office and the Passport Office as well as many authorities abroad. This means that our certified translations will be accepted for use with your visa application.

Not long ago we were asked to translate a Chinese marriage certificate into English for a Visa application. The client sent us a copy of their document via email (we do not need to see the original document, just a copy), and we gave them a quote of £65. This price included VAT, certification and first class post. Once the client had given us their go ahead, we set about translating their document.

Once the translation had been completed, the translation was checked twice in-house by our qualified linguists. This proofreading is included in the price of the translation and is something that we consider to be particularly important: in Visa applications it is necessary to have all the details correct, so the translation must be absolutely impeccable. We believe that these extra checks provide a guarantee of quality for which other translation companies may charge extra.

Once the translation had been checked we sent it to our client for their approval. When translating from Chinese, it is particularly important to check that the translation uses the preferred spellings of names when writing in the Roman alphabet. We had asked the client for their preferred spellings once they had given the go-ahead, so we were satisfied that these were correct. Having done this, we sent the translation, complete with the certification, to the client, ready for them to forward directly on to the Home Office with their application.
