Over 600,000 international students choose to study English in the UK each year from the wide range of course options available, which include short intensive residential courses or full-time courses at UK colleges and universities.

If you are interested in coming to the UK to study English the following organisations provide interesting and useful information:

·         British Council: Education

The British Council website offers information on studying and living in the UK such as travel advice, information on UK life and culture, traditions and celebrations, contacting home, and the documentation you will require.

·         UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service)

If you are planning on studying English at higher education level (university or college), it is likely that you will need to apply through UCAS. The UCAS website offers a step-by-step guide to the application process.

·         UK NARIC (National Recognition Information Centre)

NARIC offer statements of comparability for qualifications obtained overseas. These are often required for UK universities, colleges or job applications where organisations do not accept simple certified translations.

·         National Union of Students (NUS)

The NUS website offers advice and support to UK higher education students including guides to finding accommodation and student finances. 95% of higher education establishments in the UK are members and their students will normally pay a membership fee as part of their tuition fees. Your university or college student card will often also function as your NUS membership card. The NUS website also provides information about how to make the most of student discounts and NUS card offers.

Don't forget that our Certificate Translator blog also offers information about submitting overseas qualifications, transcripts and references for applications to UK universities.
