If you are getting married in Mexico, you will need to get your documents legalised before you have them translated.

The process of having your documents legalised is very simple- you need to send the certificates directly to the FCO. Details of the process can be found here.

We usually recommend that clients deal directly with the FCO as regards having their birth certificates legalised as this makes the process much more straight forward. In the past we used to undertake this service as the FCO was based in London and we had contacts who could take this on for us, but since the FCO has moved to Milton Keynes we have discovered that it is much simpler for clients to deal with them directly, as this means that there is much less risk of original documents getting lost in the post, as they do not need to be sent between agencies as often.

Once you have had your documents legalised, we can provide you with a quote for the certified translation of your official documents into Spanish. As we are a member of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC), our certified translations are accepted by all official UK bodies, such as the Home Office, Passport Office etc as well as the Mexican authorities.

If you require your documents translated for marriage abroad, please do not hesitate to get in touch. For more information on the legalisation process – please visit our previous blog entry, Legalisation Explained.

Don’t forget that we can also translate your marriage certificate into English on your return to the UK.
