We frequently receive enquiries from couples planning to get married in France. Unfortunately, however, the translation process is not as easy as it may seem.

Although we would be more than happy to provide certified translations of UK birth certificates for weddings in France, we have found that the French authorities often demand that translations are done by translators registered in France.  Many Mairies (town authorities) will not accept translations issued in the UK despite the fact that our certified translations are accepted in countries throughout the world.

The best way to find a certified translator in France is to contact the Mairie where the marriage is taking place, as they should have a list of the local certified translators (who have to be registered to the relevant local court).
