At this time of year, we see a significant increase in the number of couples requiring translations of marriage certificates from Swedish. This case study explains the translation process for a couple who were married at the stunning Ice Hotel in Sweden.

Mrs Thacker (name changed for confidentiality of course), found us through a recommendation on a wedding advice forum thread. She required a certified translation of her Swedish marriage certificate in order to change the name on her bank account, driving licence and passport.

Having seen on our website that we had done very similar translations previously, Mrs Thacker got in touch on Monday by using the Contact Us form on our website. She attached a scanned copy of her marriage certificate and explained the purpose of the translation. This information allowed us to get back to her within the hour with a quote for a certified translation which would be accepted by all the organisations to which she was applying (DVLA, banks and the Passport Office).

After receiving the quote, Mrs Thacker called us to make payment by debit card over the phone on Tuesday morning. As Swedish marriage certificates tend to be relatively straightforward to translate, we were able to email Mrs Thacker a PDF version of the translation for her approval that same afternoon. She read through the translation in the evening and emailed us her approval which we received the Wednesday morning.

Having received Mrs Thacker’s approval, we were able to issue the certified translation which included a copy of the original document, the translation and a declaration stating that we had provided a true translation. Each page was signed, stamped and embossed before being sent to Mrs Thacker’s home address via first class post on Wednesday afternoon.

The translation process from Mrs Thacker’s visit to our website until her receipt of the finished certified translation was completed within the week and we received great feedback from her:

“I was impressed with the speedy service from my initial enquiry to receiving the finished documents. I would recommend you to anyone getting married abroad as a hassle-free part of the wedding organisation. Many thanks.”

Please note that although we endeavour to respond to all quote requests as quickly as possible, our response time may vary depending on your requirements and the type and size of your documents for translation. Similarly the turnaround time for translations may vary, but we are normally able to post out certified translations within 1-4 working days of receiving payment and always endeavour to meet any deadlines you have.
